PANELFIT is an event Partnership of the “Computers, Privacy and Data Protection- CPDP Conference”, and responsible for the organisation the CPDP Panel “Health data and AI in clinics and research: legal basis, transparency and accountability”.
Organised by PANELFIT and Brussels Privacy Hub, the panel was Chair by Albena Kuyumdzhieva, DG Research and Innovation (EU), and Moderated by Gianclaudio Malgieri, Brussels Privacy Hub (BE). The speakers: Bernd Stahl, De Monfort University (UK); Zuzanna Warso, Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (PL); Nicola Orlandi, Novartis (CH); and Aliuska Duardo, University of the Basque Country/PANELFIT project Manager (ES), discussed the key challenges of health data processing in clinics and research under the GDPR and beyond: in particular, how to balance the protection of patients/data subjects with the interests of medical research.
